How to Make a Concertina Fun Fold Card

I’ve made nearly a dozen of these cards, and every single one has turned out beautifully! Since this is a larger card, you’ll want to have a few 5” x 7” envelopes on hand—or make your own. Trust me, this fun fold is absolutely worth the extra effort!

Frightfully Fun Halloween Card
How adorable is this Halloween version? I know it’s only July, but I always seem to run out of time making holiday cards, especially Halloween! It seems like October arrives in the blink of an eye, so I love getting started early. Are you an early holiday crafter too?

For this card, I started with a Basic Black card base layered with Very Vanilla to coordinate perfectly with the gorgeous Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper. I absolutely love the whimsical swirls, stars, and festive patterns throughout the collection.

The Frightfully Fun Suite Collection includes the cutest coordinating stamps and dies, making it easy to create a polished card. I also think the Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder will transition beautifully into Christmas crafting, which makes it an even better investment.

The adorable cats were colored with Stampin’ Blends using Timid Tiger, Smoky Slate, and Basic Black. The light and dark blends create beautiful shading with very little effort. To finish the card, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the witch’s hat for a magical sparkle and embellished it with the adorable bats from the Adhesive-Backed Ghosts & Dots Embellishments. A touch of the Iridescent Black Ribbon would also look amazing on this design!

Here’s what you need to know to create this card.

CUTTING/SCORING DIMENSIONS
PLATFORM: (Basic Black) 7″x8″, with 8″ side at the top, score at 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″ & 7″, fold like an accordion aka “concertina”
PLATFORM LAYER: (DSP) 6 3/4″x3/4″ (x2)

BASE TRIANGLE: (Basic Black) 4″x10″, score at 5″ and cut from bottom center up to each corner (see video). **Save cut pieces for fan base
LAYERS: (Very Vanilla) 3 5/8″x4 3/8″ (x2); (DSP) 3 1/8″x4″ **cut the same way as your base.
FAN LAYERS: (Basic Black) 4 pieces saved from your base triangle; (Very Vanilla) 1 3/4″x4 1/4″ (x2) , cut diagonally in opposite directions *see video; (DSP) 1 3/8″x3 3/4″ (x2), cut diagonally in opposite direction.

Elegant Thank You Card
For my second version, I created an elegant thank you card using Peaceful Pine, Basic White, and the gorgeous Berry Botanical Vellum, one of my favorite past Product of the Month offerings.

The beautiful greeting and floral accents were created with the Scalloped Blooms Bundle—a bundle I reach for again and again! I die cut the flowers from Barely Blush and Basic White to complement the vellum perfectly. A soft Barely Blush bow and a few coordinating embellishments complete this feminine design.

Sweet Silly Old Bear
I couldn’t resist creating a Concertina Fun Fold with the Silly Old Bear Suite because I absolutely adore it!

I used Golden Glow and Secret Sea for the card base and layered the die cuts to create a beautiful dimensional focal point. One of my favorite features of these dies is that by cutting only twice, I was able to create three gorgeous layered pieces—a fantastic way to stretch your supplies!

Pooh and Piglet make the sweetest pair, and this card is sure to bring a smile to anyone who receives it.
