Looking for a handmade card that’s easy to create but packed with a fun surprise? This Inside Pop Up Card is sure to delight anyone who receives it! At first glance, it looks like a traditional greeting card, but when it’s opened, a charming pop-up element springs to life, creating a memorable wow factor.

The best part? This easy fun fold card comes together in just a few simple steps and can be customized for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy cards, thinking-of-you cards, or just because. Once you make one, you’ll be hooked!

Elegant Anniversary Card

I fell in love with the Inked Floret stamp set the moment I saw it. The large, bold floral image creates a stunning focal point that fills the front of the card beautifully. Its simple elegance doesn’t need much embellishment to make an impact.

For this version, I paired Night of Navy and Crushed Curry cardstock with the gorgeous Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper. Since I love combining florals with geometric patterns, this paper was the perfect complement.

A large background stamp like this works best with a stamp positioning tool, allowing you to re-ink and stamp again if needed to achieve a crisp, even image. It’s one of my favorite tips for creating beautiful impressions every time!

To tie the design together, I stamped a portion of the floral image inside the card around the pop-up feature. The greetings are from the Phrases & Frames stamp set—one of my current favorites because the sentiments work for so many occasions.

Pro Tip: Add a touch of Clear Wink of Stella to the flower petals for beautiful shimmer and dimension. It catches the light perfectly!

This design makes a lovely anniversary card because it’s elegant without being overly feminine.

Here’s what you need to know to create this card.

CUTTING/SCORING MEASUREMENTS
BASE: (Night of Navy) 5 1/2″x8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
FRONT: (Crushed Curry) 4″x5 1/4″; (Basic White) 3 7/8″x5 1/8″

INSIDE POP UP BASE: (Crushed Curry) 5 1/4″x8 1/4″, **see video for scoring details – score at the 4 1/8″ mark but start 1″ down from the top; also score from the top of the center score to the right edge of the card (1″ from top); then, mark 1″ left of center and 1″ right of center and score to create a triangle **see video!

INSIDE LEFT: (DSP) 3 7/8″x5″, cut corner to fit
SMALL TRIANGLE FOR MIDDLE FOLD: (DSP) 1 1/8″x1 1/8″, cut diagonal and use 1 of the pieces to fill the triangular space on the pop up base.
INSIDE RIGHT: (Basic White) 3 7/8″x4″
INSIDE POP UP PANELS: (Crushed Curry) 2 3/8″x3 7/8″; (Night of Navy) 2 1/4″x3 3/4″; (Basic White) 2 1/8″x3 5/8″

Thoughtful Sympathy Card

For my second card, I created a simple yet heartfelt sympathy card.

The base combines Timid Tiger and Basic Black cardstock with the beautiful Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper. I colored the floral image using Timid Tiger Stampin’ Blends, adding just enough color while keeping the design soft and comforting.

The Phrases & Frames Bundle was absolutely perfect for this project. The decorative frames fit both the front sentiment and the inside pop-up element almost as if they were made specifically for this fun fold!

Since I’m a fan of flowers and polka dots, this patterned paper was an easy choice. I finished the card with Timid Tiger Ribbon and coordinating embellishments for just the right finishing touch.

Because the floral design isn’t overly feminine, this sympathy card works beautifully for anyone.

Beautiful Birthday Card

For my final sample, I created a cheerful birthday card with a fun twist. Instead of using a traditional rectangular pop-up, I designed a beautiful bouquet of flowers that pops up when the card opens.

The card base features Peaceful Pine and Berry Burst cardstock paired with the stunning Flowering Meadows Designer Series Paper. The velvet texture in this paper adds incredible depth and richness, making the finished card feel extra special.
I also added a fun “double vision” technique to the front of the card for even more visual interest.

The floral bouquet was created using products from the coordinating Velvet Meadow Suite, while the Scalloped Blooms Bundle created the perfect tag for the front greeting. I love how effortlessly Stampin’ Up! products coordinate, making it easy to mix and match stamps, dies, papers, and embellishments.

Give This Fun Fold a Try!

One of my favorite things about this Inside Pop Up Card is how impressive it looks while using only a handful of supplies. Whether you’re making birthday cards, anniversary cards, sympathy cards, or simply sending a little encouragement, this fun fold is sure to become one of your favorites.

I have a feeling once you make one…you’ll want to make a whole stack!

Happy Crafting!
