If you love interactive cards with lots of movement and dimension, this Pivot Panel Card is one you absolutely need to try. The unique folding design creates beautiful pivoting layers that open and display from every angle, making it a true wow card for birthdays, thinking-of-you cards, masculine cards, and special occasions. Whether you keep the design simple or load it up with layers and embellishments, this fun fold card is guaranteed to impress.
One of my favorite things about this fold is how perfectly it showcases beautiful patterned paper. The coordinated Designer Series Papers from Stampin’ Up! make it easy to create a card filled with color, texture, and visual interest. Mixing several patterns together gives the card movement and personality while allowing you to tell a little story through your paper choices.

For my first sample, I used the Waterside Retreat Suite Collection to create a relaxing lakeside-inspired design. This suite has such a cozy outdoor feel, and every paper pattern works together beautifully. The bicycle print on the base reminds me of riding through a charming lakeside village, while the cabin image on the front brings a peaceful, relaxing vibe. The additional panels on the back add even more charm and help tie all the colors together. I paired Cajun Craze with Gray Granite cardstock to create a warm, rustic look that feels perfect for an outdoor retreat.

I loved this suite so much that I created a second version with an entirely different feel just by changing the colors and focal images. This time, I used Azure Afternoon and Gray Granite for the card base and highlighted the trout and wave patterns for a fun “day at the lake” fishing theme. Even though I kept the sweet little cabin image on the front, the overall story of the card completely changed. That’s what makes this suite — and this card fold — so versatile.
Here’s what you need to know to create this fun fold card.

***If you want your card to be lighter, just omit the Gray Granite Layers. It’s just as wonderful without the extra layer (check out my last sample to see!)

Of course, I couldn’t resist creating a whimsical version using the adorable Silly Old Bear Suite. The charming Designer Series Paper was absolutely perfect for all the layered panels. I used Mossy Meadow for the card base with Golden Glow accents for a warm and cheerful color combination. To add extra texture, I embossed the front panels with the Hundred Acre Wood 3D Embossing Folder and layered in both die-cut and fussy-cut images from the paper collection. On the back panels, I stamped Pooh and Piglet and colored them with Stampin’ Blends. This card makes such a sweet handmade birthday card and is sure to become a treasured keepsake.

For my final sample, I wanted to show that this fold can be just as beautiful with fewer layers. I added the Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper directly onto Pool Party cardstock layers for a lighter, simpler version that still feels elegant and special. The greetings come from the Phrases and Frames Bundle, and I used the coordinating dies to cut the shapes on the left front panel. Strawberry Slush paired with Pool Party creates such a soft and pretty color palette. Add a ribbon bow and a few embellishments, and you have a clean and simple handmade card that still delivers plenty of wow factor.
This Pivot Panel Card is such a fun fold to experiment with because no two cards ever look the same. You can go bold with layers and embellishments or keep it clean and simple with just a few designer paper panels. Either way, the interactive design makes it a card your recipient will remember long after the occasion has passed.
I hope you’ll give this fun fold card tutorial a try. Once you start playing with the layers, papers, and combinations, your creativity will take over. If you create one, be sure to send me an email or share a photo — I would absolutely love to see your version!
Happy Crafting!
